Commentary

Jambavan, who began the kand by encouraging Hanuman, now tells his story for him, since Hanuman would never praise himself.

Verse 30.4

Translation

Hearing it, the Treasury of Mercy was deeply pleased and joyfully drew Hanuman to his heart again. "Tell me, dear one, how does Janaki live there? How does she keep herself alive?"

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

nāma pāharū divasa nisi dhyāna tumhāra kapāṭa lochana nija pada jaṁtrita jāhiṁ prāna kehiṁ bāṭa

Translation

"Your name stands guard day and night, and meditation on you is the door. Her eyes are fixed on her own feet like a lock. By what way could her life escape?"

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

One of the most admired images in the kand. Sita's body is a guarded house: Rama's name is the watchman, meditation on him the closed door, and her lowered eyes the lock. Her life cannot get out. Hanuman has turned what he saw in doha 8 into an answer.
