Who is Maa Siddhidatri?
Maa Siddhidatri is the ninth of the Navdurga, the nine forms of Maa Durga worshipped on the nine days of Navratri. Her name means "the giver of siddhis" — spiritual powers and accomplishment. In Shardiya Navratri 2026 she is worshipped on Day 9 (Navami), Monday 19 October.
Siddhidatri is the ninth and final form, the one who grants every siddhi — the eight classical powers such as anima and mahima, and above all the accomplishment of the spiritual goal. Tradition holds that Shiva himself received the siddhis through her grace, and that by it half of his body became the Devi — the form known as Ardhanarishvara.
She is worshipped by gods, sages, siddhas, gandharvas and humans alike, as her prarthana shloka says. Navami completes the nine days: the Navratri havan is performed, kanya puja is done in many homes, and the fast is broken.

She is seated on a lotus and also rides a lion; her four arms hold a chakra, a conch, a mace and a lotus.
Mantras of Maa Siddhidatri
Naam mantra: ॐ देवी सिद्धिदात्र्यै नमः॥ — chant 108 times on a mala.
Prarthana (dhyana shloka):
सिद्ध गन्धर्व यक्षाद्यैरसुरैरमरैरपि।
सेव्यमाना सदा भूयात् सिद्धिदा सिद्धिदायिनी॥
Stuti:
या देवी सर्वभूतेषु माँ सिद्धिदात्री रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥
The stuti is modelled on the Devi Mahatmya's "Ya Devi sarvabhuteshu" hymn, with her name in place: "To the Devi who dwells in all beings in the form of Maa Siddhidatri — salutations to her, again and again."
Puja vidhi on Day 9
- Wake early, bathe and wear clean clothes; light the lamp before the kalash and the Devi's image.
- Take a sankalpa for the day's worship (and the Navratri vrat, if you are keeping it).
- Invoke Maa Siddhidatri with the prarthana shloka above, picturing her form.
- Offer water, roli, akshat, red flowers or a red chunri, dhoop and a ghee lamp.
- Offer the day's bhog: sesame seeds, or halwa-puri-chana with kanya puja.
- Chant the naam mantra 108 times, then the stuti; read the Durga Chalisa or a chapter of the Durga Saptashati if you can.
- Close with the aarti, Jai Ambe Gauri, and distribute the prasad.
After Navami comes Vijayadashami (Dussehra) on 20 October.
