Durga Saptashati — Chapter 4, Verse 25

Shakradi Stuti

प्राच्यां रक्ष प्रतीच्यां च चण्डिके रक्ष दक्षिणे । भ्रामणेनात्मशूलस्य उत्तरस्यां तथेश्वरि ॥ २५ ॥

prāchyāṁ rakṣha pratīchyāṁ cha chaṇḍike rakṣha dakṣhiṇe bhrāmaṇenātmaśhūlasya uttarasyāṁ tatheśhvari

Translation

Protect us in the east and in the west, O Chandika; protect us in the south; and in the north, O Queen, by whirling your own spear.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

हे चण्डिके! पूर्व और पश्चिम में हमारी रक्षा कीजिए, दक्षिण में रक्षा कीजिए; और हे ईश्वरि! अपने शूल को घुमाकर उत्तर में भी रक्षा कीजिए।

Commentary

Protection in all four directions, a pattern that later kavacha hymns (like the Devi Kavacha) expand into every direction and every part of the body.
