Durga Saptashati — Chapter 4, Verse 20

Shakradi Stuti

khaḍgaprabhānikaravisphuraṇaistathograiḥ śhūlāgrakāntinivahena dṛiśho’surāṇām yannāgatā vilayamaṁśhumadindukhaṇḍa yogyānanaṁ tava vilokayatāṁ tadetat

Translation

That the asuras' eyes were not destroyed by the terrible flashing of your sword and the dense radiance of your trident's point was because they were gazing at your face, which is like the radiant crescent moon.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

Another poetic paradox: her beautiful face protected the very demons she was fighting. Terror and beauty, again, exist together in her.
