Durga Saptashati — Chapter 4, Verse 19

Shakradi Stuti

dṛiṣhṭvaiva kiṁ na bhavatī prakaroti bhasma sarvāsurānariṣhu yatprahiṇoṣhi śhastram lokān prayāntu ripavo’pi hi śhastrapūtā itthaṁ matirbhavati teṣhvapi te’tisādhvī

Translation

Why do you not reduce all the asuras to ashes with a mere glance, but instead send weapons against your foes? "Let even the enemies, purified by my weapons, reach the higher worlds": such is your most gracious intention toward them too.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

The gods answer their own question. She could destroy with a glance, but chooses weapons because death by her weapon is a blessing. Itthammatir bhavati teshvapi te 'tisadhvi, "your intention is supremely kind even toward them."
