एभिर्हतैर्जगदुपैति सुखं तथैते कुर्वन्तु नाम नरकाय चिराय पापम् । सङ्ग्राममृत्युमधिगम्य दिवं प्रयान्तु मत्वेति नूनमहितान् विनिहंसि देवि ॥ १८ ॥
ebhirhatairjagadupaiti sukhaṁ tathaite kurvantu nāma narakāya chirāya pāpam saṅgrāmamṛityumadhigamya divaṁ prayāntu matveti nūnamahitān vinihaṁsi devi
Translation
"Let the world be happy through their death; and though they have done evil that would keep them long in hell, let them reach heaven through death in battle": thinking this, surely, you slay your enemies, O Devi.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
"इनके मरने से संसार को सुख मिले; और भले ही इन्होंने चिरकाल तक नरक में रहने योग्य पाप किए हों, युद्ध में मृत्यु पाकर ये स्वर्ग जाएँ": निश्चय ही यही सोचकर आप शत्रुओं का वध करती हैं, हे देवि।
Commentary
A striking idea: her killing of the demons is itself compassion. Death at her hands purifies them and sends them to heaven. The Devi's mercy extends even to her enemies.
