Durga Saptashati — Chapter 4, Verse 12

Shakradi Stuti

īṣhatsahāsamamalaṁ paripūrṇachandra bimbānukāri kanakottamakāntikāntam atyadbhutaṁ prahṛitamāttaruṣhā tathāpi vaktraṁ vilokya sahasā mahiṣhāsureṇa

Translation

Your face, gently smiling, pure, like the orb of the full moon, lovely with the radiance of the finest gold: it is truly astonishing that Mahishasura, seeing it, grew angry and struck at it.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

A gentle, almost playful verse. The gods marvel that anyone could look at such a beautiful face and feel anger; that is the depth of the demon's delusion.
