प्रीतिर्मे क्रियते सास्मिन् सकृत्सुचरिते श्रुते । श्रुतं हरति पापानि तथाऽऽरोग्यं प्रयच्छति ॥ २२ ॥
prītirme kriyate sāsmin sakṛitsucharite śhrute śhrutaṁ harati pāpāni tathā’’rogyaṁ prayachchhati
Translation
the joy I receive from all that, I receive from hearing this good story just once. Heard, it takes away sins and grants health.

जितनी प्रसन्नता मुझे होती है, उतनी इस उत्तम चरित्र को एक बार सुनने मात्र से हो जाती है। सुना हुआ यह चरित्र पापों को हर लेता है और आरोग्य देता है।

Sakrit, "once": a single hearing equals a year of worship. The point is not that rituals are useless, but that sincere listening is enough.
