देव्या हते तत्र महासुरेन्द्रे सेन्द्राः सुरा वह्निपुरोगमास्ताम् । कात्यायनीं तुष्टुवुरिष्टलाभाद् विकाशिवक्त्राब्जविकाशिताशाः ॥ २ ॥
devyā hate tatra mahāsurendre sendrāḥ surā vahnipurogamāstām kātyāyanīṁ tuṣhṭuvuriṣhṭalābhād vikāśhivaktrābjavikāśhitāśhāḥ
Translation
When the great lord of the asuras had been slain there by the Devi, the gods with Indra, led by Agni, praised Katyayani; their lotus faces were radiant at gaining their desire, and their radiance lit up the directions.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
देवी द्वारा वहाँ महादैत्यपति के मारे जाने पर इन्द्र सहित देवता अग्नि को आगे करके कात्यायनी देवी की स्तुति करने लगे; अभीष्ट की प्राप्ति से उनके मुखकमल खिल उठे थे और उनकी आभा से दिशाएँ जगमगा उठीं।
Commentary
Chapter 11 is the Narayani Stuti, the third great hymn of the gods, sung after the final victory. Here Agni leads the gods. Gita Press notes two variant readings in this verse (lambha- and vaktrastu vi-). In some printed editions this chapter is titled Narayani Stuti; Gita Press calls it Devyah Stuti, "the praise of the Devi."
