tataḥ svapuramāyāto nijadeśhādhipo’bhavat ākrāntaḥ sa mahābhāgastaistadā prabalāribhiḥ
Translation
He returned to his own city and ruled only his own land, but there too those powerful enemies attacked him.

तब वे अपने नगर लौट आए और केवल अपने देश के राजा रह गए, किंतु वहाँ भी उन प्रबल शत्रुओं ने उन पर आक्रमण कर दिया।
Commentary
The ruler of the whole earth is reduced to one kingdom, and even that is not safe. Each loss narrows his world a little further.
