आजगाम महावीर्यः शुम्भोऽपि स्वबलैर्वृतः । निहन्तुं चण्डिकां कोपात्कृत्वा युद्धं तु मातृभिः ॥ ८ ॥
ājagāma mahāvīryaḥ śhumbho’pi svabalairvṛitaḥ nihantuṁ chaṇḍikāṁ kopātkṛitvā yuddhaṁ tu mātṛibhiḥ
Translation
The mighty Shumbha too came, surrounded by his own forces, to kill Chandika in anger, after fighting with the Mothers.

महापराक्रमी शुम्भ भी अपनी सेना के साथ मातृकाओं से युद्ध करके क्रोधवश चण्डिका को मारने आ पहुँचा।
