Chanda-Munda Vadha

bhrukuṭīkuṭilāttasyā lalāṭaphalakāddrutam kālī karālavadanā viniṣhkrāntāsipāśhinī

Translation

From her forehead, twisted with frowning brows, there quickly came forth Kali, of terrible face, bearing a sword and a noose.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

Kali is born from the Devi's frowning brow: she is the Devi's own wrath given a form of its own. This is one of the most important origin stories of Kali in Hindu literature.
