Durga Saptashati — Chapter 7, Verse 20

Chanda-Munda Vadha

utthāya cha mahāsiṁ haṁ devī chaṇḍamadhāvata gṛihītvā chāsya keśheṣhu śhirastenāsināchchhinat

Translation

Rising, and uttering "ham" with her great sword, the Devi rushed at Chanda, seized him by the hair and cut off his head with that sword.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

The Gita Press text reads mahasim ham, with "ham" as a separate seed syllable uttered as she attacks. Gita Press notes that the Shantanavi commentator counts one more verse here, describing Chanda's dying roar.
