Durga Saptashati — Chapter 2, Verse 18

Mahishasura Sainya Vadha

भ्रुवौ च सन्ध्ययोस्तेजः श्रवणावनिलस्य च । अन्येषां चैव देवानां सम्भवस्तेजसां शिवा ॥ १८ ॥

bhruvau cha sandhyayostejaḥ śhravaṇāvanilasya cha anyeṣhāṁ chaiva devānāṁ sambhavastejasāṁ śhivā

Translation

Her brows came from the radiance of the two twilights, her ears from the wind's, and from the radiance of the other gods, the auspicious one came into being.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

उनकी भौंहें दोनों संध्याओं के तेज से, कान वायु के तेज से बने, और अन्य देवताओं के तेज से भी उन कल्याणमयी देवी का आविर्भाव हुआ।

Commentary

Shiva, "the auspicious one," is used here in its feminine form for the Devi. She is complete, gathered from every god.
