so’pi vaiśhyastato jñānaṁ vavre nirviṇṇamānasaḥ mametyahamiti prājñaḥ saṅgavichyutikārakam
Translation
And the merchant, whose mind was disenchanted, being wise, chose knowledge, which removes the attachment of "mine" and "I."
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
वैश्य का चित्त संसार से विरक्त हो चुका था, और वे बड़े बुद्धिमान थे; इसलिए उन्होंने ममता और अहंता रूपी आसक्ति का नाश करने वाला ज्ञान माँगा।
Commentary
Mama iti, aham iti, "mine" and "I": Samadhi asks for the knowledge that cuts the very attachment that tormented both men in chapter 1. Two people with the same problem and the same teacher choose differently, and the Devi grants both. This is the text's answer to the difference between bhukti and mukti.
