बलावलेपाद्दुष्टे त्वं मा दुर्गे गर्वमावह । अन्यासां बलमाश्रित्य युद्ध्यसे यातिमानिनी ॥ ३ ॥
balāvalepādduṣhṭe tvaṁ mā durge garvamāvaha anyāsāṁ balamāśhritya yuddhyase yātimāninī
Translation
"Wicked Durga, do not be proud out of arrogance in your strength. You are so full of pride, yet you fight relying on the strength of other women."
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
"दुष्ट दुर्गे! बल के घमंड में आकर गर्व मत दिखा। तू बड़ी मानिनी बनी है, पर दूसरी स्त्रियों के बल का सहारा लेकर लड़ती है।"

Shumbha's taunt: you are not strong on your own; you depend on others. The Devi's reply is one of the most important verses of the whole Saptashati. Gita Press notes a variant reading at the start of the verse (padu-).
