Translation

There he saw the hermitage of Medhas, best of the twice-born, where wild beasts lived in peace, graced by the sage's disciples.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

The sage Medhas ("intelligence") will be the narrator of the Devi's deeds. The detail that wild animals are peaceful in his hermitage is a traditional sign of a true sage: his inner calm changes the world around him.
