Hanuman Manokamna Purti Mantra

A simple namaskara mantra chanted 108 times with a specific wish held in mind.

Original text

ॐ श्री हनुमते नमः॥

Transliteration

Om Shri Hanumate Namah.

A simple mantra for a specific wish

Unlike a mantra built around a mythological narrative, this one is a direct, repeated salutation — "Om, salutations to Shri Hanuman" — meant to be chanted while holding one specific wish (manokamna) in mind, rather than as a general-purpose prayer.

How it's typically done

The usual practice is to sit calmly, bring the specific intention clearly to mind, and repeat the mantra 108 times on a mala, ideally on a Tuesday or Saturday. Because the mantra itself is short and simple, the discipline is less about pronunciation and more about sustained, sincere focus on the wish through all 108 repetitions rather than letting the mind wander.

Why simplicity is the point

This is often recommended to people new to mantra practice precisely because there's nothing complicated to memorise — the entire practice is holding one clear intention steadily, which is itself a meaningful exercise in concentration and sincerity.
