puruṣhaḥ prakṛiti-stho hi bhuṅkte prakṛiti-jān guṇān kāraṇaṁ guṇa-saṅgo ’sya sad-asad-yoni-janmasu
Translation
The purusha, seated in prakriti, experiences the gunas born of prakriti. Its attachment to the gunas is the cause of its births in good and bad wombs.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
Commentary
This verse explains rebirth in one line: attachment (sanga) to the gunas binds the soul to further births. The problem is not nature itself but clinging to it. That sets up chapter 14, which examines the three gunas in detail.
