About
Odisha's Sanskrit university at Shree Vihar, Puri, established in 1981. A teaching-cum-affiliating university, it offers Shastri and Acharya in Veda, Vyakarana, Sahitya, Jyotirvigyan, Nyaya, Dharmashastra and Advaita Vedanta, and runs a Centre of Advanced Research in Sanskrit and a Manuscript Resource Centre.

History
Founded in 1981
The foundation stone was laid on 7 July 1981 by Dr. Janaki Ballav Pattanaik, then Chief Minister of Odisha and a patron of Sanskrit learning. The university is dedicated to reviving, preserving and promoting Sanskrit studies and research through the scientific study of Indian Knowledge Systems.
Teaching, research and manuscripts
It has eight postgraduate departments on campus and affiliates Upashastri (+2) and Shastri (+3) Sanskrit colleges across Odisha. Its Centre of Advanced Research in Sanskrit publishes the journal Shreejagannathajyotih, and its Manuscript Resource Centre surveys manuscripts across Odisha with the National Mission for Manuscripts.
