About
An autonomous body of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, set up in 1987 to preserve the oral tradition of Vedic recitation. It supports Veda pathashalas and guru-shishya units across India, runs the Rashtriya Adarsh Veda Vidyalaya, and conducts the Veda Bhushan and Veda Vibhushan examinations.

History
Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan (1987)
The Pratishthan was established on 20 January 1987 by the then Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, as an autonomous all-India society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Reg. No. S-17451/1987). Its establishment was notified in the Gazette of India on 30 March 1987, and it was inaugurated in Delhi on 10 August 1987 in the presence of Vedic scholars and Vedapathis from many states.
What it was set up to do
- Preserve, develop and promote the oral tradition (shruti parampara) of Vedic study.
- Support the study and teaching of the Vedas through pathashalas, mathas and voluntary organisations.
- Create research facilities that bring the knowledge in the Vedas to the public and relate it to contemporary needs.
- Collect, consolidate, publish and disseminate research material.
Today
Now named after Maharshi Sandipani, the guru of Shri Krishna at Ujjain, the Pratishthan works from its campus near the Chintaman Ganesh temple. Students in its affiliated pathashalas sit for the Veda Bhushan examinations (equivalent to classes 6 to 10) and Veda Vibhushan (classes 11 and 12), and it also runs Vedic skill courses and refresher courses for Veda teachers.
