History
Established in 2005
Building on the recommendations of the Sanskrit Commission of 1956–57, the Government of Uttarakhand established the university by notification no. 486 of 21 April 2005, to spread Sanskrit and oriental learning and connect them with modern contexts.
Faculties
It teaches through a Faculty of Veda-Vedanga and a Faculty of Sahitya-Sanskriti, offering Shastri (B.A.), Acharya and M.A. programmes, postgraduate diplomas and certificate courses, and registers scholars for the Ph.D.
