अपरेयमितस्त्वन्यां प्रकृतिं विद्धि मे पराम् । जीवभूतां महाबाहो ययेदं धार्यते जगत् ॥ ५ ॥
apareyam itas tvanyāṁ prakṛitiṁ viddhi me parām jīva-bhūtāṁ mahā-bāho yayedaṁ dhāryate jagat
Translation
This is my lower nature. But know, O mighty-armed one, my other, higher nature — the life-principle (jiva) by which this world is sustained.

यह मेरी अपरा (निम्न) प्रकृति है। हे महाबाहो! इससे भिन्न मेरी जीव रूपी परा (उच्च) प्रकृति को जानो, जिससे यह संपूर्ण जगत धारण किया जाता है।
Commentary
Two natures: aparā, the lower (matter and mind), and parā, the higher — the conscious living beings. Both belong to God. The soul in every creature is described here as part of God's own higher energy.
