भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च । अहङ्कार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा ॥ ४ ॥
bhūmir-āpo ’nalo vāyuḥ khaṁ mano buddhir eva cha ahankāra itīyaṁ me bhinnā prakṛitir aṣhṭadhā

Earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect and ego — this is my nature divided eightfold.

पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश, मन, बुद्धि और अहंकार — यह आठ प्रकार से विभाजित मेरी प्रकृति है।
Commentary
Krishna lists the eight components of the material world: the five elements plus mind, intellect and ego. Notice that even our thoughts and sense of "I" belong to this material nature — they are not the true Self.
