Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 6, Verse 43

तत्र तं बुद्धिसंयोगं लभते पौर्वदेहिकम् । यतते च ततो भूयः संसिद्धौ कुरुनन्दन ॥ ४३ ॥

tatra taṁ buddhi-sanyogaṁ labhate paurva-dehikam yatate cha tato bhūyaḥ sansiddhau kuru-nandana

Translation

There one regains the understanding gained in the former body, and strives from there even more for perfection, O joy of the Kurus.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

वहाँ उस पहले शरीर में संग्रह किए हुए बुद्धि-संयोग को, अर्थात् समबुद्धि रूप योग के संस्कारों को, अनायास ही प्राप्त हो जाता है; और हे कुरुनंदन! उसके प्रभाव से वह फिर परमात्मा की प्राप्ति रूप सिद्धि के लिए पहले से भी बढ़कर प्रयत्न करता है।

Commentary

Nothing is lost: the understanding developed in a previous life resurfaces. This is often used to explain why some people feel a natural pull towards spiritual life from an early age.
