इन्द्रियाणि पराण्याहुरिन्द्रियेभ्यः परं मनः । मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्यो बुद्धेः परतस्तु सः ॥ ४२ ॥
indriyāṇi parāṇyāhur indriyebhyaḥ paraṁ manaḥ manasas tu parā buddhir yo buddheḥ paratas tu saḥ
Translation
The senses are said to be higher than the body; higher than the senses is the mind; higher than the mind is the intellect; and higher than the intellect is He (the Self).

इंद्रियों को (स्थूल शरीर से) श्रेष्ठ कहते हैं, इंद्रियों से श्रेष्ठ मन है, मन से श्रेष्ठ बुद्धि है, और जो बुद्धि से भी अत्यंत श्रेष्ठ है, वह आत्मा है।
Commentary
A ladder of inner faculties, closely echoing the Katha Upanishad: body, senses, mind, intellect, and above them all the Self. Each higher level can govern the one below it — which is how desire can be overcome.
