तस्मात्त्वमिन्द्रियाण्यादौ नियम्य भरतर्षभ । पाप्मानं प्रजहि ह्येनं ज्ञानविज्ञाननाशनम् ॥ ४१ ॥
tasmāt tvam indriyāṇyādau niyamya bharatarṣhabha pāpmānaṁ prajahi hyenaṁ jñāna-vijñāna-nāśhanam
Translation
Therefore, O best of the Bharatas, first control the senses, and then slay this sinful thing that destroys both knowledge and realisation.

इसलिए हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! तुम पहले इंद्रियों को वश में करके ज्ञान और विज्ञान का नाश करने वाले इस महापापी काम को निश्चय ही बलपूर्वक मार डालो।
Commentary
The practical order: begin with the senses, the outermost line, where desire first enters. Jñāna (knowledge) and vijñāna (realised experience) are both at stake — desire can rob us of what we understand and of what we have experienced.
