Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 2, Verse 63

krodhād bhavati sammohaḥ sammohāt smṛiti-vibhramaḥ smṛiti-bhranśhād buddhi-nāśho buddhi-nāśhāt praṇaśhyati

Translation

Anger leads to complete delusion, and delusion to loss of memory. When memory is lost, discrimination is destroyed; and when discrimination is destroyed, one is ruined.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

This completes the chain begun in 2.62: attachment to desire, desire to anger, and now anger through delusion and lost memory to the destruction of discernment itself — the very faculty a person would need to catch the process early and stop it. Together, the two verses are often cited as the Gita's clearest account of how self-control fails, one small step at a time rather than all at once.
