dhyāyato viṣhayān puṁsaḥ saṅgas teṣhūpajāyate saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate
Translation
While contemplating the objects of the senses, one develops attachment to them. From attachment arises desire, and from desire arises anger.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
Commentary
This verse opens a causal chain — attachment leading to desire, desire to anger — that the next verse (2.63) completes, tracing how a single moment of dwelling on a sense object can eventually unravel a person's judgment entirely. It's less a moral warning than a psychological observation: the process starts innocuously, with mere contemplation, long before anything resembling anger appears.
