The unwise, delighting in the letter of the Vedas, speak flowery words, O Parth, saying, "There is nothing else" —

Commentary
Verses 42–44 form one sentence. Krishna is not rejecting the Vedas; he criticises people who treat only the ritual sections promising rewards as the whole of scripture. "Flowery words" are attractive promises of pleasure and heaven that distract from the deeper goal.
