अविनाशि तु तद्विद्धि येन सर्वमिदं ततम् । विनाशमव्ययस्यास्य न कश्चित्कर्तुमर्हति ॥ १७ ॥
avināśhi tu tadviddhi yena sarvam idaṁ tatam vināśham avyayasyāsya na kaśhchit kartum arhati
Translation
Know that to be indestructible by which all this is pervaded. No one can bring about the destruction of that imperishable reality.

उसे अविनाशी जानो जिससे यह सब व्याप्त है। उस अव्यय (अविनाशी) का विनाश कोई नहीं कर सकता।
Commentary
Krishna identifies the "real" of the previous verse as what pervades the whole body — consciousness itself. The body can be wounded, but the awareness that knows the body cannot be cut. This will be the ground for his conclusion that Arjun cannot truly "kill" anyone.
