Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 17, Verse 13

Shraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga

vidhi-hīnam asṛiṣhṭānnaṁ mantra-hīnam adakṣhiṇam śhraddhā-virahitaṁ yajñaṁ tāmasaṁ parichakṣhate

Translation

Sacrifice without proper method, with no food distributed, no mantras, no offering to the priests and no faith, they call tamasic.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

Tamasic worship is careless and empty: no method, no sharing of food (asrishtannam), no sacred words, no gratitude to those who serve (dakshina), and above all, no faith. Notice that sharing food is named as an essential part of worship. Prasad and bhandara are not extras.
