Translation
One who casts aside the guidance of scripture and acts on the impulse of desire attains neither perfection, nor happiness, nor the supreme goal.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
Commentary
Kama-karatah means acting "as one pleases." Krishna warns that following only one's impulses, however free it feels, does not even lead to happiness, let alone to perfection. Scripture is presented as accumulated wisdom that protects us from our own blind spots.
