Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 15, Verse 12

Purushottama Yoga

yad āditya-gataṁ tejo jagad bhāsayate ’khilam yach chandramasi yach chāgnau tat tejo viddhi māmakam

Translation

The brilliance in the sun that lights up the whole world, and the light in the moon and in fire: know that light to be Mine.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

Verses 12–15 describe how God sustains the world from moment to moment. First, light: the sun, moon and fire, which in verse 6 could not light the supreme abode, turn out to shine with God's own brilliance. This returns to 7.8 and 10.21, where Krishna names himself as the light of the sun and moon.
