मम योनिर्महद् ब्रह्म तस्मिन्गर्भं दधाम्यहम् । सम्भवः सर्वभूतानां ततो भवति भारत ॥ ३ ॥
mama yonir mahad brahma tasmin garbhaṁ dadhāmy aham sambhavaḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ tato bhavati bhārata
Translation
My womb is the great Brahman (prakriti). In it I place the seed, and from that, O Bharat, comes the birth of all beings.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
हे भारत! मेरी महत् ब्रह्म (मूल प्रकृति) योनि है, उसमें मैं गर्भ (बीज) स्थापित करता हूँ, और उसी से सब प्राणियों की उत्पत्ति होती है।
Commentary
Here mahad brahma means not the Absolute but prakriti, the vast material nature, pictured as a womb. God places the "seed" of conscious souls in it. This joins the two principles of chapter 13, the field and the knower, into one image of conception and birth.
