It would be better for me if the sons of Dhritarashtra, weapons in hand, killed me in battle, unarmed and unresisting.

यदि शस्त्रधारी धृतराष्ट्र-पुत्र मुझ शस्त्रहीन और प्रतिकार न करने वाले को रण में मार डालें, तो वह मेरे लिए अधिक कल्याणकारी होगा।
Commentary
Arjun reaches the end of his argument: he would rather die than fight. For a kshatriya on the battlefield, this is an extraordinary statement. It sets up the famous opening of chapter 2, where Krishna tells him bluntly to cast off this faint-heartedness and stand up.
