अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता वयम् । यद्राज्यसुखलोभेन हन्तुं स्वजनमुद्यताः ॥ ४५ ॥
aho bata mahat pāpaṁ kartuṁ vyavasitā vayam yad rājya-sukha-lobhena hantuṁ sva-janam udyatāḥ
Translation
Alas! What a great sin we have resolved to commit — ready to kill our own kin out of greed for the pleasures of a kingdom!

अहो! कितने आश्चर्य और खेद की बात है कि हम बड़ा पाप करने को तैयार हो गए हैं — राज्य-सुख के लोभ में अपने ही स्वजनों को मारने के लिए उद्यत हैं!
Commentary
"Aho bata" is a cry of anguish. Arjun now turns the accusation of greed, which he aimed at the Kauravas in verse 38, on himself. It is a moment of painful self-examination — and a sign of how completely his grief has taken over his judgement.
