ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः । युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः ॥ ८ ॥
jñāna-vijñāna-tṛiptātmā kūṭa-stho vijitendriyaḥ yukta ityuchyate yogī sama-loṣhṭāśhma-kāñchanaḥ
Translation
The yogi who is content with knowledge and realisation, unshakeable, master of the senses, to whom a clod of earth, a stone and gold are the same, is said to be established in yoga.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
जिसका अंतःकरण ज्ञान-विज्ञान से तृप्त है, जो विकार-रहित (कूटस्थ) है, जिसकी इंद्रियाँ भली-भाँति जीती हुई हैं, और जिसके लिए मिट्टी, पत्थर और स्वर्ण समान हैं — वह योगी युक्त कहा जाता है।
Commentary
Kūṭastha — like an anvil, which stays unchanged while everything is hammered on it. "Earth, stone and gold are the same" does not mean the yogi cannot tell them apart, but that none of them has power to disturb their peace.
