Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 6, Verse 24

सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः । मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः ॥ २४ ॥

saṅkalpa-prabhavān kāmāns tyaktvā sarvān aśheṣhataḥ manasaivendriya-grāmaṁ viniyamya samantataḥ

Translation

Giving up completely all desires born of mental intention, and restraining the whole group of senses on every side with the mind itself,

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

संकल्प से उत्पन्न होने वाली सब कामनाओं को पूर्णतः त्यागकर, और मन के द्वारा ही इंद्रियों के समुदाय को सब ओर से भली-भाँति रोककर —

Commentary

Desires begin as thoughts (saṅkalpa). Meditation involves noticing them at the root and letting them go, while the mind gently gathers the senses back from all directions.
