Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 6, Verse 2

यं संन्यासमिति प्राहुर्योगं तं विद्धि पाण्डव । न ह्यसंन्यस्तसङ्कल्पो योगी भवति कश्चन ॥ २ ॥

yaṁ sannyāsam iti prāhur yogaṁ taṁ viddhi pāṇḍava na hyasannyasta-saṅkalpo yogī bhavati kaśhchana

Translation

What they call renunciation, know that to be yoga, O son of Pandu; for no one becomes a yogi without renouncing selfish intention.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

हे पाण्डव! जिसे संन्यास कहते हैं, उसी को तुम योग जानो; क्योंकि संकल्पों का त्याग किए बिना कोई भी योगी नहीं होता।

Commentary

Saṅkalpa here means the self-centred planning of the mind — "I will get this, I must have that." Giving that up is the common heart of both renunciation and yoga, which is why Krishna says they are one.
