यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता । योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मनः ॥ १९ ॥
yathā dīpo nivāta-stho neṅgate sopamā smṛitā yogino yata-chittasya yuñjato yogam ātmanaḥ
Translation
"As a lamp in a windless place does not flicker" — that is the image used for the yogi of controlled mind, practising yoga of the Self.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
जिस प्रकार वायु-रहित स्थान में रखा दीपक चलायमान नहीं होता, वैसी ही उपमा परमात्मा के ध्यान में लगे हुए योगी के जीते हुए चित्त की कही गई है।
Commentary
One of the most beautiful images in the Gita. The flame is alive and burning, not extinguished — but perfectly still because no wind disturbs it. So is the meditating mind: fully awake, yet unwavering.
