अज्ञश्चाश्रद्दधानश्च संशयात्मा विनश्यति । नायं लोकोऽस्ति न परो न सुखं संशयात्मनः ॥ ४० ॥
ajñaśh chāśhraddadhānaśh cha sanśhayātmā vinaśhyati nāyaṁ loko ’sti na paro na sukhaṁ sanśhayātmanaḥ
Translation
But the ignorant, the faithless and the doubting self perish. For the doubting self there is neither this world nor the next, nor happiness.

विवेकहीन, श्रद्धा-रहित और संशय-युक्त मनुष्य नष्ट हो जाता है। संशय वाले मनुष्य के लिए न यह लोक है, न परलोक, और न सुख।
Commentary
Saṁśhayātmā vinaśhyati — the one consumed by doubt is lost. This is not a warning against honest questions (Arjun asks many), but against a habit of doubt that never commits to anything and so never arrives anywhere.
