यज्ञशिष्टामृतभुजो यान्ति ब्रह्म सनातनम् । नायं लोकोऽस्त्ययज्ञस्य कुतोऽन्यः कुरुसत्तम ॥ ३१ ॥
yajña-śhiṣhṭāmṛita-bhujo yānti brahma sanātanam nāyaṁ loko ’styayajñasya kuto ’nyaḥ kuru-sattama
Translation
Those who eat the nectar left over from yajna reach eternal Brahman. This world is not for one who performs no yajna — how then the other, O best of the Kurus?

हे कुरुश्रेष्ठ! यज्ञ से बचे हुए अमृत का भोग करने वाले सनातन ब्रह्म को प्राप्त होते हैं। यज्ञ न करने वाले के लिए यह लोक भी सुखदायक नहीं, फिर परलोक कैसे होगा?
Commentary
The remnant of sacrifice is called amṛita, nectar — life received as prasad rather than grabbed. A life with no offering in it, Krishna says, does not even bring happiness here, let alone hereafter.
