आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत् । तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी ॥ ७० ॥
āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī
Translation
As the waters enter the ocean, which is ever being filled yet remains still within its bounds, so the one into whom all desires enter in the same way attains peace — not the one who chases desires.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
जैसे सब ओर से भरते हुए भी अचल मर्यादा वाले समुद्र में नदियों का जल समा जाता है, वैसे ही जिस पुरुष में सब भोग (बिना विकार उत्पन्न किए) समा जाते हैं, वही शांति पाता है — भोगों की कामना करने वाला नहीं।
Commentary
The image of the ocean crowns this section. Rivers pour into the sea constantly, yet the sea neither overflows nor runs dry. Desires and experiences still come to the wise person — but they are absorbed without disturbance. The one who keeps chasing desires, by contrast, is like a small pond, easily stirred.
