हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम् । तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः ॥ ३७ ॥
hato vā prāpsyasi swargaṁ jitvā vā bhokṣhyase mahīm tasmād uttiṣhṭha kaunteya yuddhāya kṛita-niśhchayaḥ
Translation
If you are killed, you will attain heaven; if you win, you will enjoy the earth. So stand up, O son of Kunti, resolved to fight.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
यदि तुम मारे गए तो स्वर्ग पाओगे, और यदि जीते तो पृथ्वी का राज्य भोगोगे। इसलिए हे कौन्तेय! युद्ध का निश्चय करके उठ खड़े हो।
Commentary
A warrior's simple calculus: in either outcome, doing one's duty leads somewhere good. This is still the argument from the warrior's code; the next verse will lift it to a much higher level, where even these rewards are set aside.
