अकीर्तिं चापि भूतानि कथयिष्यन्ति तेऽव्ययाम् । सम्भावितस्य चाकीर्तिर्मरणादतिरिच्यते ॥ ३४ ॥
akīrtiṁ chāpi bhūtāni kathayiṣhyanti te ’vyayām sambhāvitasya chākīrtir maraṇād atirichyate
Translation
People will speak of your dishonour for all time; and for one who has been honoured, dishonour is worse than death.

लोग सदा तुम्हारी अपकीर्ति की चर्चा करेंगे; और सम्मानित पुरुष के लिए अपकीर्ति मृत्यु से भी बढ़कर है।
Commentary
Verses 34–36 speak to Arjun's sense of honour, a value he takes seriously. These are the most "worldly" of Krishna's arguments, and some commentators see them as a concession: if the higher reasons do not move Arjun yet, perhaps concern for his good name will.
