सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत । श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः ॥ ३ ॥
sattvānurūpā sarvasya śhraddhā bhavati bhārata śhraddhā-mayo ’yaṁ puruṣho yo yach-chhraddhaḥ sa eva saḥ
Translation
Everyone's faith follows the nature of their mind, O Bharat. A person is made of faith: whatever one's faith is, that is what one is.

हे भारत! सबकी श्रद्धा उनके अंतःकरण के अनुरूप होती है। यह पुरुष श्रद्धामय है; जिसकी जैसी श्रद्धा है, वह स्वयं भी वैसा ही है।
Commentary
"Yo yach-chhraddhah sa eva sah": "as one's faith, so one is." This is one of the Gita's deepest psychological insights. Shraddha here is more than religious belief; it is what a person trusts, values and gives their heart to. What we place our faith in slowly shapes who we become.
