rajo rāgātmakaṁ viddhi tṛiṣhṇā-saṅga-samudbhavam tan nibadhnāti kaunteya karma-saṅgena dehinam
Translation
Know rajas to be of the nature of passion, springing from craving and attachment. It binds the embodied soul, O son of Kunti, through attachment to action.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
Commentary
Rajas is restless energy: wanting, chasing, doing. Its root is trishna, "thirst." It binds through karma-sanga, attachment to activity and its results. Much of modern busyness, always needing more and never able to rest, is a picture of rajas at work.
