अश्वत्थः सर्ववृक्षाणां देवर्षीणां च नारदः । गन्धर्वाणां चित्ररथः सिद्धानां कपिलो मुनिः ॥ २६ ॥
aśhvatthaḥ sarva-vṛikṣhāṇāṁ devarṣhīṇāṁ cha nāradaḥ gandharvāṇāṁ chitrarathaḥ siddhānāṁ kapilo muniḥ
Translation
Of all trees I am the ashvattha (sacred fig); of divine sages, Narada; of the gandharvas, Chitraratha; of the perfected ones, the sage Kapila.

मैं सब वृक्षों में पीपल का वृक्ष, देवर्षियों में नारद मुनि, गंधर्वों में चित्ररथ और सिद्धों में कपिल मुनि हूँ।
Commentary
The ashvattha (peepal) tree is honoured across India as sacred, and this verse is one reason why. Kapila is the sage traditionally credited with founding Sankhya philosophy.
