महर्षीणां भृगुरहं गिरामस्म्येकमक्षरम् । यज्ञानां जपयज्ञोऽस्मि स्थावराणां हिमालयः ॥ २५ ॥
maharṣhīṇāṁ bhṛigur ahaṁ girām asmyekam akṣharam yajñānāṁ japa-yajño ’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ
Translation
Of the great sages I am Bhrigu; of utterances I am the single syllable Om; of sacrifices I am japa (silent repetition); of immovable things, the Himalaya.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
मैं महर्षियों में भृगु और शब्दों में एक अक्षर अर्थात् ओंकार हूँ; सब प्रकार के यज्ञों में जपयज्ञ और स्थिर रहने वालों में हिमालय पहाड़ हूँ।
Commentary
Yajñānāṁ japa-yajño 'smi — "among sacrifices I am japa." The simple repetition of God's name is placed above elaborate fire rituals. This verse is a foundation for the practice of nama-japa.
